Bowlers ready themselves for another bumper Friedman Weekend

John Kirk with family and friends made sure that they were well represented at the ATKV Business League.

ATKV Business League
As the saying goes, all good things come to an end and what a fitting ending it was to the ATKV Business League this last Thursday evening. Even the weather played along! Only one game was played which was then followed by a wine auction with John Kirk, the auctioneer, in fine form! The wine auction was then followed by prize-giving and a braai in the “front garden”. Unfortunately, someone must come last and so the Stone went to Buffalo Coal CWP on 2 points -33. Another Buffalo team, Buffalo Calcine came third on 12 +31, the Queen B’s took the second spot with 12 points +33 and the winners of the first-ever ATKV Business League, the Cherrybums with 12 points +37. As one can see the top three positions were very close with the results of the last game certainly making an impact.
A huge thank you to the committee, bar staff, greenkeeper, players and others who contributed to making this league a great success!
Kings Day
Six Dundee teams travelled to Newcastle this past Saturday to compete in the Kings Sponsored Day.
A total of 40 teams from around Northern KZN took part, 120 players in total. The players were treated like royalty with the most amazing spread of delicious treats at tea time and a traditional South African braai. Dundee faired pretty well with Rita Meyer and her team finishing in third position overall.
AGM
The Dundee Bowling Club’s AGM was held this past Wednesday evening. Congratulations to the newly elected committee who will take up their duties after Friedman 2018: President – Greg Conolly; Vice President – Louis de Jager; Treasurer – Sylvia Malan Secretary – Taryn Bierbaum; Competitions Secretary – Jacques Bierbaum; Green Keeper – Dougie Slabbert; Wille Nel and Sheryl Hesom. Best wishes to each of you and may the Club grow from strength to strength.
Friedman
The Club is abuzz with the final preparations taking place for the much anticipated 72nd edition of the Friedman Tournament which will be hosted this coming weekend.
The Club looks forward to hosting 136 players from around South Africa.
The quality of bowls played at the Friedman has always been of a very high standard so if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, come down to the Club and watch some brilliant bowls in action, you certainly will not be disappointed.
