A group of singing Endumeni Municipal workers converged on the Municipal building this morning demanding answers after a decision to change their leave pay arrangments.
Workers who spoke to the Courier said previously they could ‘cash in’ or ‘swap’ eight days of leave for money – mone which many said they relied upon.
However, the Council recently changed this which means the workers are not allowed to ‘cash in’.
Workers said they were never consulted before the decision was made. No police were on the scene but the protest was monitored by a handful of traffic officers.
Later, it appeared as if some workers went into the building to discuss the issue with management.
