Sarel Cilliers ready for a busy Sports Season

Thubilile Luthuli who has been selected to the South African Junior Academic Jukskei touring team

Term 3 is always a diverse one in terms of sport and at Sarel Cilliers it is no different. Cricket, action cricket, jukskei and soccer are all on the menu!
Jukskei
On Saturday the first league jukskei matches of the new season were played at Vryheid. The team consisting of Thubilile Luthuli, Sandisiwe Dlomo and Lungile Nhlebela, all from Sarel Cilliers High School, were winners in the B section.
Special mention was made of Thubilile Luthuli who has been selected to the South African Junior Academic Jukskei touring team to tour and participate in international matches during the last part of August. Sarel Cilliers wishes Thubilile and his teammates a wonderful and successful tour.
Cricket
Sarel Cilliers 1st cricket team took on Pionier on Wednesday, July 27, in a very tough encounter. After posting a defendable total in 20 overs, Pionier managed to walk away with the win. Congratulations to Willem Husselman with his 73 runs scored in this match. Note that it took only 19 balls for him to get to his 50. Congratulations on an excellent performance!
On Wednesday, August 1, the first team took on the cricket giants, Vryheid High School, on their home field. It was a very tough game due to conditions, so we fell short of runs and unfortunately lost by minimal runs. Great job, boys! Keep up your awesome spirit and positive attitude.
The under 15 cricket team played against Vryheid High school on Monday and Pionier High School on Wednesday and showed great sportsmanship on the cricket field. Uvir Dookhi was the star in the match against Vryheid and impressed the school with his batting and bowling. Against Pionier, Rahual Singh batted the best and the best bowler was Aisheel Nair.
Action Cricket
The Sarel Cilliers development team played against the formidable All Stars from Dannhauser on Friday night and managed to narrowly win. The top bowlers were Saalih Rajah and Zahir Chenia. Showing their batting prowess were Uvir Bhartu and Kairav Dheena who scored 45 in their skins. Well done boys.
Sarel Cilliers Action Cricket took on The Knights in the Open League Challenge on Tuesday, July 31. In a tough match they were pipped in the final over. Willem Husselman and Juandré Lundie did an outstanding job by putting up a score of 54 in their skin and Ashley Nero, Saalih Rajah kept the bowling figures down with an excellent display of bowling. Congratulations boys, your dedication is truly inspiring.
Soccer
Sarel’s soccer season started with a bang! The boys team won 9-0 and the girls had a blast as it is their first season and they are learning as much as they can.
