Dannhauser Sec put on a brave show against NHS

The sporting action returned to the sports grounds of Dannhauser Secondary after a lengthy hiatus.

Newcastle High School brought through their first and second team soccer stars to Dannhauser for a friendly clash.  The difference between the two teams was clear from the start. Newcastle’s teams were properly attired with a full kit, while Dannhauser’s first and second teams had to share the one set between them.

A few of the players didn’t have soccer togs while the first team keeper defended the goals, barefoot.
Despite the differences, the host team played with drive and determination and gave their much fancier opponents a run for their money.

They lost both games but showed tremendous heart, running until the final whistle and never giving up.

Management of the team expressed their pride in the performance of the team, despite their lack of resources. They have appealed to business for sponsorship of kits and equipment for the school soccer team, to help them grow from strength to strength.

Anyone wishing to sponsor the Dannhauser Secondary School soccer team can contact the school on 034 621 3954.
