Rotarians embrace new theme: ‘Be The Inspiration’

Outgoing president, Bonga Shangase, hands over to new president, Tish Coleman.

The Rotary Club of Dundee and honoured guests gathered at the Ingudlane Lodge on Saturday, June 30, for their annual dinner to induct the new incoming president-elect, Tish Coleman.
A tribute was paid to outgoing president, Bonga Shangase, for his contribution to the club and its members and a new theme ‘Be the Inspiration’ was introduced. The theme was chosen in an effort to encourage each Rotarian to work closely as a team to benefit the community and to be an inspiration for good. Learners from the newly established Rotary-Interact group from Dundee High School were also present and ready to embrace the new theme.
The guest speaker for the evening was Janet Coleman Campbell who spoke eloquently on the topic of business ethics.
A valuable and informative subject which touched on the importance of trust, honesty and integrity; qualities which are always highly regarded by Rotarians when taking responsibility for the funds generously donated by the public and sponsors.
The funds raised are used for projects to benefit the needy in our community.
The Paul Harris award was presented to Rotarian Peter Kuyler for his work on the Rhino Security Project, a fundraising initiative which aims to raise awareness about Rhino Conservation and the devastating effects of poaching. Among other efforts, such as providing anti-poaching units with supplies, the project has sold over 200 ‘Stop The Slaughter’ T-shirts. The Rotary club commended Peter for his work and is looking forward to a very successful and inspiring year here further.

Rotary’s Board of Directors: Waldo Thöle, Yvonne Lucini, Sheryl Hesom, Tish Coleman (President), Evan Jones, Bev Garner. Jenny Thöle, Peter Kuyler, Edith Kuyler and Ken Vorster.
