As easy as riding a bike at GPS

On the April 23, the KZN Cycling Development Programme, in association with the Department of Sports and Recreation, visited Glencoe Primary School.
The aim of the programme is to teach learners how to ride a bicycle and the importance of road safety. A group of Grades 6 to 7 learners, who had never ridden bikes before, were selected, and they were taught the skill. Before the riding could start, however, learners were taught some safety rules and were instructed on how to wear helmets. Once the basics were covered, the excitement began with learners queuing to have their chance. There were various sized bikes, from small to big so that everyone selected could be comfortable.
A course was marked out on the field and with a little push and some steadying, the learners took their first few pedals and the joy on their faces was the highlight of the day.

While some learners were acquiring a new skill, the Astro Quiz learners were proving just how bright and knowledgeable they are when it comes to the solar system and galaxies. A group of eager learners, accompanied by Mr Strydom, competed in the first Astro Quiz round at Dundee Junior School, last week Thursday, April 26, and walked away the winners, with one of the highest scores recorded.
A huge congratulations to the Astro Quiz team!
