Dannhauser Library celebrated the theme of this year’s library week, “Libraries are the heart of the Community”, held over three days.
The purpose was to promote and educate the children of the important role their local library plays.
On the first day, Dannhauser Primary’s grade 7 learners visited the library, along with their educators, where they were shown a DVD on how the library operates to orientate them. A tour of the library offices followed and the children had a chance to ask questions. The following topics were covered: the importance of visiting the library, knowing your way around the library, the Junior section, taking care of books and library membership.
There was also a chance to pick a book and read inside the library for an hour.
The following day saw Okhalweni Primary grade 4 learners visit with their educators. The grade 4s were shown a cartoon DVD and there was also storytelling and later a motivational talk by Pastor Richman Mbuli.

There was a chance to pick and read a book inside the Dannhauser library for an hour.
The tour by Khiphokuhle Primary concluded library week with the Department of Arts and Culture bringing the mobile library to educate the learners on library services.
