DHS students don many hats

DHS multi-sport athletes ready for action.

DHS Multi-sport
About 28 multi-sport athletes set up camp on the Carters’ farm on Saturday, March 3. They had absolutely wonderful weather and a full moon to top it off. They travelled to Albert Falls dam early on Sunday morning to take part in the Epworth Mudman. A big thanks goes out to Helen van Emmerik for sponsoring the Saturday supper “Happy hungry kidz”. Thank you to Oscar Wichmann from Farmtrac for the bike trailer that they use for every event! Gabby Carter finished first in her age group and she was third overall. Joshua Donaldson finished second in the downhill race. Well done to everyone who took part in this amazing event.

Young matriculant aspires to help others
On Sunday, February 25, the Girl Guide SA group went to Ladysmith for a meeting. Malesedi Shabangu, a DHS matriculant, is passionate about public speaking, debating, poetry and acting. She aspires to study film and television at AFDA to achieve her dream of being on local TV screens one day. She has always wanted to be part of a group that develops young girls to unite. Her mission is to see young girls becoming the best they can be. At this meeting, they made a peace offering and everyone in the Girl Guide group donated money that will go to the less fortunate in our area. Malesedi hopes to inspire others to become more involved in programmes to help others.
