Another murder in the CBD as crime continues in 2018

There has been another brutal murder in Dundee’s central business district. A man, who was not named by police, was found dead in King Edward Street shortly before midnight on Saturday. He had been stabbed in the neck. Another man, who was found near the body, had also suffered stab wounds and was taken to the hospital. Police are investigating.
Woman raped in Sibongile
A woman who had been visiting a friend in France, Sibongile, was raped after a man grabbed her and forcibly took her to his house. The perpetrator is known and a case has been opened.
Shoprite arcade – a crime ‘hot spot’
The public is asked to be vigilant when approaching the Shoprite arcade in the Dundee CBD as it is becoming a ‘hot spot’ for criminal activities. A woman was robbed of her Samsung cell phone, cash estimated at R1700 and her handbag containing her cards. The victim was duped into believing the men would take her to another shop where she could buy cheaper groceries. Once they had scammed their victim, the robbers fled the scene taking the victim’s belongings and cash.
Weekend sees rise in burglaries
Thieves were also busy this weekend when a house in Jones Street, Berea was broken into using a duplicate key on Friday night. The following items were taken: a flat-screen TV and a mattress estimated at R3 120. The thieves are still unknown and a case has been opened.
On the same night, a house was burgled in Lindelani, Sibongile. The unknown suspect took shoes, bedding, luggage, clothing and a wristwatch all estimated at R1925 in total.
Two laptops were stolen from a house in Cornhill Street, Berea, where a door was left open.
The SAPS warn the community against buying stolen goods as they will be arrested if found with goods they have no proof of purchase for.
