DHS boasts top student who bagged 7 A symbols and is a guest of the MEC

Kwenzokuhle Zondo of Dundee High bagged seven A symbols

Kwenzokuhle Zondo of Dundee High bagged seven A symbols and one B and is today a guest of the MEC of Education along with other top performing matric students in KZN.
Kwenzokhule, the Deputy Head boy of 2017, scored As in Zulu, Maths, Life Orientation, Accounting, Business Studies, Life Sciences and Physics and a B in English.
He was the top performer in the Endumeni area. Dundee High achieved a 96% matric pass rate – a percent higher than in the previous year.

Dylan Mare and Chante Groenwald

Deputy head boy, Dylan Mare, scored 5 A symbols and is off to the Blue Bulls academy in Pretoria to study and play rugby.

Headmaster, Rudi Haschke, said five of the 124 candidates failed. He will release full statistics once these have all been tabulated.
Overall, he was happy with the results but of course, would have liked to see a 100% pass rate!

 

Sarel Cilliers results

In Glencoe, Sarel Cilliers’ Class of 2017 achieved a pass rate of 79% – up from last years 76%.
Top student was Georgia Viljoen who took home A symbols in Afrikaans, English, Maths, Physics, Life Orientation, Life Science and Engineering and Graphic Design.

She is top study medicine in Bloemfontein this year and said the secret to her hard work ‘is to listen in class and pay attention’.
Another top performer was Siphesihle Sithole who achieved A symbol in Maths, Physics, Life Science, Life Orientation and Afrikaans. She is to also study medicine.
There were 134 candidates who wrote the exam at Sarel Cilliers and 106 passed. Students achieved a total of 109 A symbols with 50% achieving a Bachelors’ Pass and 42% a Diploma Pass.
Deputy Principal, Ludwig van Jaarsveld, said Sarel’s staff had ‘worked incredibly hard in 2017 with extra classes – especially in Maths and Physics’. “It paid off but of course it can always be better – that is our challenge.”
Other results of local schools were not immediately available.

Dundee Secondary achieved a 56 percent matric pass rate while Ethangeni and Thalana High both got 60 percent pass rates.
