Late night feline shopper shocks Shoprite

Shoppers and staff at Shoprite were given a nasty shock yesterday, when a serval was spotted in the toilets.

The wild cat was found lurking in the toilets by staff who then phoned the Parks Board.

Our very own Steve Irwin, Pieter van der Merwe, attended the scene with members of the Parks Board and apprehended the feisty feline.

They then released it back into the wild.

The serval, also known as the tierboskat, is characterised by a small head, large ears, a golden-yellow to buff coat spotted and striped with black, and a short, black-tipped tail.

They are indigenous to the area but tend to be solitary with minimal social interaction.
